Food Bank
Agency
Mission:
The
Airdrie Food Bank collects and
distributes food to those in
need and educates the community
on hunger related issues.
Job
title:
Airdrie
Food Bank Board Member
Come
join our group of dedicated
community members who have a
heart for feeding the hungry!
As
a member of the governance Board
of Directors, you will be part
of the team that provides overall
leadership and guidance to the
Airdrie Food Bank.
Specifically, you will
be involved in policymaking,
long-term visioning, financial
accountability, and occasionally
assist with fundraising and
special events (usually held
in June or near Christmas).
Commitment:
One
meeting per month, plus prep
time and emails/phone calls
between.
One Saturday per year
for an annual planning day.
(Committee meeting time,
if you volunteer to be on a
committee, although most of
our committee “meetings” are
done by email.)
Usually some special
events help during Christmas-time
or for our Empty Bowls Festival
in June, if possible. Current
Board member hours vary from
3 hours per month to 15 hours
per month, depending on what
committees or projects each
member chooses to participate
in.
Never
been on a volunteer board before?
No
problem.
Many of us also had not
at the time we joined.
However, we have all
brought talents from our current
and prior occupations, and we
have all learned a great deal
about strategy planning, policy-making,
volunteer management, goal setting,
and other useful topics, through
planning days and presentations
by Alberta Community Development,
SCAFBF, and other agencies.
We’ve also made friends
with each other, and with persons
from other agencies.
You might find you’ll
get as much as you give!!
Give us a call or send
us an email.
