Board of Directors

Airdrie Food Bank is run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Approximately half of the board is elected each year, so there is always a mixture of experienced and new board members at any one time. Current Board members are:

Denise Peters, President

Denise has lived in Airdrie since 1999. She was educated at the University of West Virginia. She comes to us with the experience of having worked in two banks, an actuarial firm, and two law firms, and a history of successful fund raising for two major not-for-profit organizations in Calgary. She has computer and software experience, as well as administrative and organizational skills. Denise is the mother of three children (who have all 'flown the coop'), the owner of OfficesWithoutWalls, a five-year-old web design company and is the author of "So, you want to be a Housesitter", the Housesitter.ca How-to Handbook.

Calvin Kerr, Vice President

Over the last four years Calvin has held the positions of President and Past President at the Airdrie Food Bank. In the past, he has been involved with Parent Teacher Associations in various public schools within Airdrie as well as coaching and helping out with sports teams. Currently Lise sits on the National Board of Directors for the YWCA of Canada and Co-Chairs the Nominations Committee and the (AMM) Annual Membership Meeting.

Sarah Noble

Sarah has been of resident of Airdrie for over five years now. Her current job with the City of Calgary has her working on long-term strategic and business planning for the Waste & Recycling Services business unit. This allows her to combine her love of the environment with her business skills. Strategy work is very different from other jobs as you don't always reap instantaneous rewards, but is fulfilling when you see a team and a plan take shape. (Even if you never see the end result.) Her involvement on previous boards includes President of a condo association and as a serving member of the City of Airdrie's Environmental Advisory Board. Both were very rewarding in different ways and she is now looking for the 'right fit' to get involved again in the community.

Carrie Peddie

Carrie has been married to a great guy, Kent Peddie for 22 years. They have 2 fabulous kids, Joel 15 years & Alyssa 19 years. They moved back to Alberta in 2004 after several years of relocations thru-out Saskatchewan for her husband's occupation. She was born & raised in Sherwood Park, AB. She says I have been lucky to witness the success and growth within a blooming community as a younger person, now have the opportunity to provide that for my kids here in Airdrie! I have had several great jobs in the past, one being in charge of school bus transportation within the County of Vermilion River, in which I reported directly to the Board....very interesting! I began my real estate career 10 years ago and have practiced in both provinces. I am looking forward to providing my contacts and connections to the Airdrie Food Bank to boost the awareness up and help the Board become even stronger.

Scott Pulvermacher

The handsome and debonarie Scott Pulvermacher has a Business Administration educational background and a strong entrepreneurial and community spirit. As the co-owner of LOGical Creations Ltd. he has won numerous awards for his innovative environmentally friendly business practices and accepts many public speaking engagements to share his successful ideas with others. Having been in Airdrie since 2003 Scott has been involved in the community in a number of areas since. He is the founder of the annual "TREECYCLE: RECYCLING FOR CHARITY" event benefiting the Airdrie Food Bank. Scott is a proud husband and father to two wonderful boys, Hayden and Mathias. He is eager to contribute more to the community and the Food Bank in his new role on the board.

Marie Lauer

We are fortunate to have Marie Lauer on the AFB team again. She previously served on the board and has returned as of November 2008. (more info to come)
